How to handle dumb people in college.
I'm pretty sure we all view the world through our own preconceptions and biases. And the clash of these is perhaps nowhere more evident than in college. Now before you get all worked up over how insensitive the title is, I must clarify that dumb isn't a quality that I attribute to the mentally challenged. In fact, I believe that once you enter college you are interacting with people within the same intellectual ballpark. Then what do I mean when I say dumb?
See, going to back to where I started, we all view the world through our unique perceptual lenses. Those who are smart among us remain aware to the difference between these lenses. They accept the fact that people view and respond to the world in different ways. They consider this diverging behavior carefully and find the strengths within all people. They remain open to conflicting viewpoints and opinions.
Then there are the dumb. Who assume that the entire world surrenders to their whims, and when they find the contrary to be true, they try to force it into becoming so. They'll laugh at those who are different, because they fail to understand. And these people truly and sincerely ought to be pitied.
For they'll always fail to comprehend the world. They'll strive in vain for an unattainable Nirvana where everything is to their liking. They'll try to play God and God will play them. And in the end, pride cometh before the fall.
