It often happens that despite the moments of joy we experience every day, we often do come across moments that drag us deep into icy depths of depression. Whether it is the disappointment of not getting good grades, the stress from having a long list of overdue assignments or troubles from the topsy-turvy social atmosphere, we all experience depression in our own unique way. We feel like we are failing in life, but trust me when I say that what you call a failure is NOT failure. If life makes you feel inferior to everyone else, then you're sadly mistaken.

As life unfolds and plays its hand, it is beneficial to have some values to trust in when the going gets tough, and here they are.

1. Look for the opportunity in crisis

Every day bears new challenges for us. Sometimes it's pretty hard to tackle them but there is always a silver lining. You need to look above all the problems and focus on what you want to achieve, because it makes you see how you can turn the situation in your favor.

2. Be transient

Life is all about living in a state of constant flux, which is really wonderful if you think about it. The only way to make life exuberant and meaningful is to have the courage to accept the constant change in life. Imagine it as a platter that always brings new flavor for you. And always try to leave behind a mark in everything you do.

3. Have the guts to believe in yourself

Believe in yourself even if everyone else thinks you're wrong. Don't doubt yourself if you come up with something bizarre. Its always bizarre people with bizarre ideas who change the world. Have the courage to be speak your mind. Have the courage to be noticed. Because people won't really understand you unless you really put yourself out there.

4. Listen

Listen to others. Invest your time in them. Everyone has a story. And everyone has something to teach you. Learning from others' failures will help you avoid making the same mistakes.

5. Have a proactive approach

Don't just react to life. Try to pre-empt the future and act upon it. You'll have to take risks. But only risk yields rewards. A wrong decision is always better than indecision.

6. Explore diversity

Accepting diversity doesn't really mean interacting with people of different backgrounds. It means being open to all ideas and values, even those that contradict your own. Always try to see both sides of a picture. If nothing, it will only strengthen your faith in what you believe.

7. Transform your thought process

Aim for the stars and you'll reach the sky, aim for the sky and you'll stay grounded. Start fixing higher benchmarks and goals, and failing to reach them should not put you off. We often resort to pessimism because we believe we can't get what we want and we need to change this. Don't just sit around and complain. Have a plan for your success and carry it out with the utmost optimism.
